Overview

GWO BST Onshore is designed for employees who work at onshore wind farms. The course covers four submodules — First Aid, Manual Handling, Fire Awareness and Working at Height — without the Sea Survival module, which applies only to the offshore environment.

Practical exercises are carried out in a dedicated training tower that simulates the structure of a wind turbine.

Programme content

First Aid

Providing first aid, resuscitation drills, and managing injuries in wind farm conditions.

Manual Handling

Safe lifting and handling techniques.

Fire Awareness

Fire prevention and evacuation procedures in the turbine nacelle and tower.

Working at Height

Use of fall arrest systems, safe ascent/descent of the tower, and rescue from the nacelle.

Requirements for participants

  • Minimum age of 18
  • Medical certificate confirming fitness for work at height
  • Comfortable sportswear for practical exercises

Certification

On completion of the course, participants receive a GWO BST Onshore certificate, registered in the GWO WINDA database. Valid for 24 months.
