Overview
This course introduces the causes of fire in a wind turbine, the use of firefighting equipment, and the principles of safe evacuation from a confined, elevated space.

- All wind farm employees
- Maintenance and emergency response teams
- Employees renewing a valid GWO BST certificate
Programme content
Fire prevention
The most common causes of fire in a turbine and how to prevent them.
Firefighting equipment
Types of fire extinguishers and practical use, and how to respond on discovering a fire.
Evacuation procedures
Safe escape routes from the nacelle and tower in the event of a fire.
Requirements for participants
- Minimum age of 18
- No health restrictions
Certification
On completion of the course, participants are issued a GWO BST Fire Awareness certificate, registered in the GWO WINDA database. Valid for 24 months.
