GWO BST Working at Height
A standalone GWO module for consolidating skills in safe work at height and rescue from a wind turbine nacelle.
Overview
This module teaches participants how to safely use personal protective equipment (PPE) against falls, how to move correctly inside a wind turbine tower, and how to carry out rescue actions if a colleague is injured or loses consciousness at height.
Practical exercises take place in a purpose-built training tower that simulates a real turbine environment.

- Employees who need to renew the standalone WAH module
- New team members before their first climb into a turbine
Programme content
PPE Use
Selection, inspection, and correct fitting of the harness, carabiners, and energy-absorbing lanyards.
Movement in the Tower
Techniques for safe ascent and descent of the ladder using a fall arrest system.
Rescue from the Nacelle
Procedures for lowering an injured colleague from height using rescue equipment.
Suspension Trauma
Recognition and prevention of suspension trauma.
Requirements for participants
- Minimum age of 18
- Medical certificate confirming fitness for work at height
- No restrictions related to fear of heights
Certification
On completion of the course, participants receive a GWO BST Working at Height certificate, registered in the GWO WINDA database. Valid for 24 months.
